Hambleside graduates at Carbon Management

Hambleside-Danelaw-4On the 14th June 2012, Ray Khan, our Director of Quality and Environmental Standards, was in Edinburgh to be presented by the Carbon Trust with a Certificate for our efforts in reducing our Company’s carbon footprint.

We were one of the first SME’s to participate in the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Management Programme, which until recently has only been available for public sector bodies.

The Carbon Management Service enables local authorities, central government bodies, NHS Trusts, higher education institutions, further education colleges, schools and emergency services and, now SME’s to manage and reduce their carbon and energy costs by:

  • Providing technical and strategic support to develop a carbon baseline and cost/ carbon reduction target
  • Offering training and expert guidance on how to embed carbon management across an organisation and make the business case to secure funding
  • Their Collaborative Implementation Service is designed for organisations that have undertaken the Carbon Management Programme and need support to help progress the implementation of projects.
  • Expert technical training and guidance on encouraging low-carbon behaviour
  • Developing programmes into a five-year business plan with detailed procurement and financing arrangements

We will now use the experience gained from participating in this Programme to reduce our carbon footprint even further, we have set ourselves a target of 85% reduction by 2016.
